Health Club

Do you think the community would use a fitness club? Where would you put one in town? What would it offer?

  1. I think our community would definitly use a fitness club. Just look at how many people come up to the school's weight room to work out. I think more of the older generation would feel more comfortable going to a fitness club than to the weight room.

I think it could really go anywhere in town. I think it sould have about the same things the weight room has. One thing I would add is more eliptocals or treadmeals.

  2. I agree that the high school weight room might be an intimidating place for adults - especially those who are just beginning a fitness program. I think the high school weight room could use some more cardio equipment, too!

  3. I think that our town could defiantly benefit from a town fitness center. O’Neill has two clubs, Anytime Fitness and Curves. I think that if O'Neill has two Atkinson should have one. Along with Mrs. Kraus's comment, I defiantly think that many adults won’t come and work out at the weight room because of the other people who might be there. Especially if they are just getting started. I am personally not a huge fan of the weight room. I just feel bad when I go in there and bench like 250 and out do some of the boys. (Ha-ha I am just kidding I really bench 300 :) I think that the center could be any where in Atkinson. Once you get it started up people will travel a little ways to go.

  4. I think the community would and could use a fitness club. There are alot of adults who would love to be able to go somewhere and "work-out" and see what the talk of the town is. You could put it almost anywhere in Atkinson that has easy access and people know that it's there. I agree with Jessica, it should have more treadmeals and ellipticals, and offer the same thing the weight room does.

  5. I definately think that the community should have a fitness club. I know i hear my grandmas and my mom always talking about how it would be nice so they wouldnt always have to workout with the high school kids. You could put it in any old builing there are plenty of those. I would agree with kelsey and jessica and say alot more treadmills and ellipticals, but also some fitness balls.

  6. I think that it would be a waste of money. We have a weight room, they should just take advantage of it. If we have a fitness center people have to pay for the membership. I don't think we have enough people to support a fitness center.

  7. I think that people in this community would use a fitness center. Yes the weight room is open to anyone, but older adults may not feel comfortable in using it. A lot of people use the weight room now in the early mornings and later in the night maybe to stay away from the younger crowd, but if we had a fitness center then they might feel more comfortable to use it anytime. In the summertime in the evenings you can usually spot a lot of people walking or running in town. In the winter they can't. If we had this fitness center they could take advantage of it and use the treadmills or ellipticals and still get their daily exercise in. I agree that it could go anywhere in town. It should probably offer more ellipticals and treadmills and maybe some basic weight room machines. Since we already have a nice weight room facility.
